The first Rolls-Royce Corniche was a coachbuilt automobile based on the short-lived Mark V, the development of which was canceled in 1939 with the outbreak of the Second World War. The Mark V continued with changes as the first of the 'rationalized' RR products, the Bentley MK VI and later the Bentley R-Type and the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, after the war. Named for the coastal cliff roads of the Cote d'Azur on the French Riviera, the Corniche has always represented the elegance that only a Rolls-Royce convertible can provide. The modern Corniche was introduced as the Mulliner Park Ward two-door coupe (1965) and the drophead (1966) as a limited-production car modified from the Silver Shadow by MPW. It was renamed the Corniche in 1971 when production was taken in-house at Crewe. The Corniche went through multiple series and constant improvement; the last of the Shadow-based cars, the Corniche IV, was built in 1995. In total, 1,108 Corniche Coupes were built from 1971 to 1981 and 5,154 Convertibles were produced from 1971 to 1995. The last of the Corniche line was also the last Rolls-Royce to be built at Crewe as production was moved to the new Goodwood facility after the company was acquired by BMW. The V was a total redesign based on the Bentley Azure. Just 374 of the Corniche V series cars were produced. The Corniche V is powered by a 325 BHP 6.75 Turbocharged V8 capable of 544 lb-ft of torque at 2,100 RPM driving the venerable GM 4L80-E transmission with a top speed of 135 MPH with a 0-60 time of 8 seconds, impressive for its weight of 6,836 pounds. Its original price was $359,990. Our car is a beautiful example in rare triple black with every refinement expected in a bespoke Rolls-Royce including Corinthian burl walnut, Connolly leather and Wilton wool, with automatic ride control, dual automatic climate control, and automatic traction control. An Alpine sound system with navigation and rear camera have been added. This Corniche V has been fully evaluated and serviced by Palma's Automotive Repair and is ready for a drive on the coastal road of your choice.
